Egri Leányka Superior 2018 Late Harvest

Autumnal colours and aromas of sunny hillsides, reminiscent of the shrivelled grape berries of vines. Each golden drop as it rolls down the glass carries the sweet flavours of overripe grapes. The nose is also reminiscent of autumn. Quietly opening flowers, roses and chrysanthemums, freshly peeled, fragrant apples and quince tempt you to taste. The palate is dominated by spicy apple compote and baked apple aromas, followed by a touch of acacia honey, lingering on the sweetness of the wine.

TECHNOLOGY

It was an excellent vintage, we harvested beautiful fruits. The grapes were beautifully shrivelled, interspersed with botrytised grapes. Harvested at the very end of October, cold maceration for a day. After pressing, the must was settled then the free-run must – 27 sugar degree of must – was inoculated. Cold fermentation lasted 40 days. The fermented wine was debourbaged and half of it was aged in 5 hl new barrels for eight months, while the other half rested in steel tanks. Blended in August and bottled in early October. 7000 bottles were produced.
