James Suckling, the world-famous American wine critic, has not been to Hungary for the first time, nor to Eger, but this year several wineries in the wine region received outstanding ratings and scores. Congratulations to them!

One of the best-known and most respected wine critics has been tasting wine from around the world for more than 40 years, previously as the editor of Wine Spectator magazine and now as an independent critic. He publishes his tasting notes and scores via the JamesSuckling.com website. The expert rates wines on a scale of 100, using his own scoring system.

This influential expert’s opinions are recognised and sought after not only by the wine industry but also by consumers, which is why we are proud that this year he has rated four of our wines over 90 points, which he considers to be excellent wines that offer a complex experience.

Tóth Ferenc Winery recommended the classic and superior categories of our white wine-growing region, Egri Csillag, and our international varietal Pinot Noir Superior to the critic. And what is perhaps the most important and touching for us now is that our Kékfrankos Grand Superior wine, made for our 40th anniversary year, which comes from the Síkhegy vineyard and praises the 2021 vintage, also received a high score.
