Egri Leányka 1976

“I have a 7 hectares heritage where I am looking for the secret of the real Leányka that will carry the reputation of the wine region and, if Eger – then Leányka should come to mind for wine lovers. We spend a lot of time with the grape and think a lot about its journey. Tasting these two wines also triggered the idea that Leányka is capable of surviving in our cellar for a long time as a white wine. When we opened the first bottles, the cork revealed so much, as it still had pure perfume notes with tiny little crystals on it… and the 0.7 l light green bottle with its twisty appearance made the wine experience even more special and beautiful. When I first tasted the 1969 and 1976 wines, I was very surprised that they were both sweet wines…, but the most striking thing was that all the same notes that are still recognizable in our Leányka wines are still present in the wine today. The late harvest notes and the honeyed, slightly pear, raisiny, dried mango aromas are there and can be felt in the taste. Both wines are enjoyable, a real museum speciality.” Katalin Tóth
